The...Best...Movie...Dance...EVER!!!

This scene, from the Jim Jarmusch movie DOWN BY LAW, was recommended to me by a dear relative who's a lot better dancer than I am. The actors who are gloriously cutting a rug are Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi. They're married in real life, which makes this scene especially sweet. And do they look as if they're having fun, or what!!???!!!

  1. Cute...and hot! This is an early Jarmusch. Have you sees Stranger Than Paradise? (Amusing story)

  2. Now THAT does it for me.. sighhhhhhhhhhh. Ahh, keep your Dirty Dancing, this is pure sex on a (melting) stick - wonderful!

  3. Darn, I can't watch it. (The Adobe program won't download for me.) I love dance scenes and I'm sure this one's sultry. All the better that they are married.

    Be well, dear Margaret.

  4. Not bad. I haven't danced with my hubby, in YEARS!

  5. Now I was expecting some sort of Ginger Rogers stuff!

They would have to be married - you can't fake that!

  6. mythopolis--yes, I've seen Stranger Than Paradise and loved it. I wish there were a documentary about Jarmusch's mind, because NOTHING could be stranger than that.

Shrinky---yes, that scene does it for me too. Nicoletta swaying in her bedroom slippers (and with a flash of armpit hair!) and Roberto with his frank bald spot have so much more joyful passion for each other than all the "Dancing With The Stars" TV nonsense...Sigghhhhh is right!

Robyn--I'm sorry the Adobe program wouldn't download, I always enjoy your comments. By the way, I also enjoy your updates on Paradise.

Ms. A--Yes, what seems to happen is that over the years youthful Twist N' Shout dancing at parties turns into the occasional sedate jog around the floor at a wedding reception...DANG!

Rock Chef---Ginger and Fred, yuch! But I know what you mean about Roberto and Nicoletta's DOWN BY LAW dance--they showed such a lovely, natural familiarity with each other.

  7. I love what someone said about Fred and Ginger - everyone raved about Fred's dancing, but Ginger was much better, being able to match him while going backwards in heels!

  8. Rock Chef--Absolutely! Also, didn't Ginger usually have on some kind of feathery boa and ruffly dress? So she'd have to dance backward while spitting out feathers and frills!

  9. I've never been a fan of musicals or "dance" movies, but I'll check this out on your advice. Long time no see! I hope you are doing well...

  10. Pat --I know what you mean about musicals! Usually I think they should all just sit down and shut up. But the DOWN BY LAW dance is something special. It seems so sweet and natural, maybe because the actors are married in real life.

  11. Hi Margaret. YAY! I was able to watch it now. Very sexy. I enjoyed seeing the apathetic looking guys sitting at the table too.
